Today on May 15th, 2014, we are excited to celebrate the UN recognized International Day of Families. As we use this day to acknowledge the joy, support, companionship and love a family brings, we must also think of those families that do not have much more than this to survive.
With Mother’s Day having departed not so long ago, we must continue to think about the importance of the work being done by artisans around the world who are trying to use their craftsmanship to build a better life for their families. Fathers or mothers, brother or sisters, children or the elderly – families are working hard to survive, and one day thrive, in some of the most destitute of conditions.
We hope to continue supporting such artisans and their families in their pursuit to rise above the poverty line, improve their communities in a sustainable way and provide their future generations with opportunities they may never have dreamed of.
Happy International Day of Families and Twentieth Anniversary of the International Year of the Family recognized by United Nations.
