We would like to congratulate the University of British Columbia for being designated a Fair Trade Campus recently by Fair trade Canada. The school became a trailblazer by adopting fair trade coffee in 2004, which inspired countless other post-secondary schools to do so as well. Since then, their efforts have expanded to a variety of foods like chocolate, fruits and even tea. To assist in this process, UBC created a committee that is responsible for advancing fair trade purchasing on campus. The university joins about 100 other universities around the world who have made similar commitments.
UBC is an inspiration to people around the country to purchase fair trade and make conscious efforts to improve the community!
