To celebrate Earth Day 2011, we are dedicating a collection of sustainable products from our Home, Gifts, and Fashion collection to raise funds for Evergreen, a Canadian charity whose objective is to make cities more livable. In the month of April, 25% of proceeds from each sale of products from this collection will go towards supporting Evergreen’s endeavours in greening the outdoor landscapes of Canadian schools.
Contact with nature plays a significant role in all rounded mental, physical & emotional development of a child and typically, children spend 25% of their school day outdoors. By planting trees, shrubs and wildflowers, creating meadows, butterfly gardens and other theme areas on school grounds, the Toyota Evergreen Learning Grounds program is creating outdoor classrooms and healthy play spaces in Canadian schools.
Through the Toyota Evergreen Learning Grounds program, Evergreen is greening school grounds and are providing various resources including:
• Through collaborative efforts with school boards, customized approach, expert assistance, and well-designed plans, Evergreen is working toward sustainable school ground greening.
• Evergreen is providing hands-on support to teachers, students, principals, administrators, parents, and communities by offering variety of services, support, and grants.
• Through Evergreen’s readily accessible resources such as guides, research reports, newsletters, videos, and native plant database, Evergreen is helping Canadian schools in bringing nature in school grounds. Their material covers all facets of creating and maintaining a project including finding shovels to raising funds, from plant selection to community engagement and organizing.
• Their training sessions and workshops are open to all schools, day cares, their students, teachers, administrators, parents, custodians, and community volunteers.
This April, purchase a sustainable product from our Earth Day collection and we’ll contribute 25% of retail price to Evergreen. Step up and help us help Evergreen in their endeavours in greening outdoor landscape of Canadian schools.
